FAQ's

*How often does the Foundation donate?
The Foundation believes that predictable annual donations help charities better than one-time grants. To that end, the Foundations has a goal of sending donations on a yearly basis for about 5 years in a row, after which the 5-year blocks are re-evaluated for renewal, based on the charities performance and Foundation goals. The Foundation is also active in helping with one-time disaster relief such as the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, 2005 hurricane Katrina, the 2010 Haiti Earthquake and Pakistan Floods.

*What is the Foundations philosophy for giving?
The Stephen T. Balbach Foundation believes it is a civic duty to help the community, but also understands that any act of charity is a political act reflecting the values and goals of the giver. Why this charity and not that one? Ultimately it is those who act who enact change.

*What are the Foundation goals?
The foundation has a long-term goal of at least 30 years thus it aims to preserve and build capital while creating a legacy of giving.
